I think the ide->pata move is pretty much over, even the wiki has pretty much catched up, so this seems like a no-brainer. |

I stills need the ide hook since my CD-ROM have a problem with pata (I also need to use 'ide-legacy' option during install, for that matter).

Okay, I could have been more clear about this. I didn't mean to eliminate the hook completely, just that it shouldn't be in the default .conf. The setup script should be able to figure out the proper setup in any case during a normal CD install. But the 'ide-legacy' option isn't default, that's why 'ide' should get replaced by 'pata'.

yes removing ide hook as file would be a very bad idea, the text in initcpio.conf could be changed though.
