Reason for closing:  Not a bug
Additional comments about closing:  Expected behaviour, now that pacman-3.1.0 has moved to core.

This isn't much of a bug really. The new makepkg doesn't put filelist metainfo in the packages anymore. I guess Travis built these packages with makepkg 3.1 - Silly you for jumping the gun 8)
Comment by Roman Kyrylych (Romashka) - Wednesday, 09 January 2008, 18:39 GMT
This is because the maintainer has built these packages with the latest git version of makepkg.
In upcoming pacman 3.1 packages doesn't have .FILELIST inside the tarball anymore.
Pacman 3.0 doesn't require .FILELIST as well, but displays an error message.

Oh, whoops. I guess I didn't consider that - when Dan asks to get some testing done on the git versions, I generally just start using them for everything, after some simple testing to make sure everything's sane.

Luckily old versions of pacman are already built to save my ass here. HA!

Uhm... is it worth rebuilding with the old makepkg?

  • Field changed: Architecture (i686 → All)
  • Field changed: Summary (no filelist in audacious pkgs → No filelist in recently built packages (audacious))
  • Field changed: Status (Assigned → Waiting on Response)
Leave this one open for now so people can (hopefully) find it and we don't get a bunch of duplicate reports.

@Aaron (you're fast!): all pacman 3.0 users will get these errors for all packages created with makepkg 3.1.
Since there will be more and more those packages (especially when pacman 3.1 hits Testing) - what should we do?
1) post a "Don't be scared!" announcement everywhere
2) release a patched pacman-3.0 package ASAP containing a patch to disable this message.
Opinions?
Comment by Dan McGee (toofishes) - Wednesday, 09 January 2008, 18:53 GMT
No, there won't be if people didn't use testing packages to build real packages. :)

It's a *warning*, not even an error. So no, I will not be posting any announcements or patches.
Comment by Aaron Griffin (phrakture) - Wednesday, 09 January 2008, 18:54 GMT
I definitely thing 2 is a bad idea. When pacman 3.1 goes to [testing] we will include (1) as part of the message

Hehehehehe..... *goes and hangs head in shame*

and after discussing it with Aaron I've relized that[1] users with pacman 3.0 will see this message only once - when -Syu will ask about pacman upgrade.

[1] in case no packages will be built with makepkg 3.1 before pacman 3.1 hits core

heh, I've just found yet another package built without .FILELIST
it's bash-completion, Dan ;-)

Pacman 3.1 moved to base. Now, it's not a bug anymore. Close?
