DetailsDescription:
Today I updated my kernel, and thus the madwifi modules. After reboot I was unable to connect to my wireless network, it always times out at authentication. I installed a new wpa_supplicant version, dindn't work. After installing old versions of the three packages from my Arch CD I was able to connect to my wlan again. So I'm afraid there is some conflict between the newest versions the kernel, madwifi and wpa_supplicant packages. Additional info: broken: kernel26-2.6.23.12-3, madwifi-0.9.3.3.3006-1, wpa_supplicant-0.9.3.3.3006-1 works: kernel26-2.6.22.9-1, madwifi-0.9.3.1.99-2, 0.9.3.1.99-2 Steps to reproduce: Of course this is only reproducible when you use the madwifi driver. - Install the broken package combination mentioned above. - wpa_supplicant is not able to authenticate (timeout) |

Also, lspci did not list the Athereos wifi card under the kernel26-2.6.24-2-i686.
After I installed the kernel26-2.6.23.14-1-i686 package from the pacman cache and rebooted the wifi functioned as it had before.
I do not use wpa encryption, but I do have the wpa_supplicant package installed.
The old kernel and madwifi package should be in your package cache if you don't delete it.
also you could save it manually before doing updates.
you need those 2 packages to test:
testing/kernel26 2.6.24-2
testing/madwifi 0.9.3.3.3246-2
