Detailsafter upgrading from a working 2.6.5-1
2.6.5-2 kernel refuses to boot. Locks at IRQ probe failed for hdc & hdd hdc lost interrupt waited 10mins to no avail. both lilo and grub are affected and both were installed after upgrade with no errors reported. http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?t=4497 |
This task depends upon
Workaround is to turn off acpi (acpi=off). Actually I had acpi=off set before and "hdc lost" happend to me when I tried to turn acpi on. My kernel is 2.6.6 and hdc is liteon dvd rw - I can provide more detailed info but I don't think its related to specific hardware).The problem is also known on http://kerneltrap.org/node/view/3070#comment-8787 I'm not sure if turning apic off and leaving acpi on would help or if we should turn off both of them but turning acpi=off alone works for me.
