PowerTop (package in community) gives the following advice: "Suggestion: Enable the CONFIG_NO_HZ kernel configuration option. This option is required to get any kind of longer sleep times in the CPU." Could you please enable this option in the default kernel configuration? After some googling I did not came across negative effects and (minor) positive effects on power consumption. Additional info: * package version(s) powertop 1.9-1 kernel26 2.6.23.12-3 |

Correction: I m using x86_64 and it seems that for this architecture, the option is not implemented yet in the 2.6.23 kernel but will be implemented in the 2.6.24. Apologies for filing this bug report and please defer it till the next kernel version arrives.
