DetailsOn the Linux 2.6.5 the CONFIG_X86_MCE_P4THERMAL will make a message appear when the CPU get's hot.
CPU: Tempature above threshold CPU: Running in modulated clock mode The kernel will display thousands of these messages every second, forcing you to pull the plug (nothing else will work). Nothing was changed in the 2.6.6 changelog, I reccommend taking CONFIG_X86_MCE_P4THERMAL out of the kernel. Many other Pentium 4 users are having problems. |

This is a very serious problem - This can bring your system to a complete halt. A stable server with this problem is unthinkable. Compiling this option as a module will make everyone happy - Older P4 users will have a stable kernel, newer P4 users will have the option to have P4 Thermal monitoring.
