GNOME and KDE is tied with Xfree86 so you have some errors [fake or real] with the keyboard. Xorg pkg should take care of this. It's only a matter of soft linking 2 files

the same solution goes for KDE [i personally didn't experience problems with KDE, but other users did and also provided this solution]
