I'm unable to duplicate this, but I'm using KDEmod. Can anyone else confirm this for a regular KDE install?
Comment by Jens Adam (byte) - Sunday, 02 December 2007, 14:06 GMT
Confirmed, kind of.

On a normal KDE from [extra] I did this:
- pacman -S wicd
- sudo /etc/rc.d/wicd start
- start /usr/lib/wicd/tray.py as normal user in a terminal
repeated Output (no wireless hardware present):
networkID returned -1, waiting...
networkID returned -1, waiting...

Removing the krandrtray icon made the wicd icon disappear and pressing ctrl-c in the terminal made it appear again. Adding and removing other tray apps made no further difference, wicd stayed present.

Many fixes fro the tray icon in the new upstream version 1.3.8 actually in the testing repo, I suggest that also you kde guys try this one.

can you confirm if this still affects you in wicd-1.3.8 (in testing now)
Comment by Erwin Van de Velde (evdvelde) - Wednesday, 02 January 2008, 21:07 GMT
The bug does not appear anymore in wicd 1.3.8, thanks a lot!

Its still rather erratic for me with 1.3.8, so I won't be closing the bug just yet.

Correction on previous comment, I have to agree with Varun: it worked at first but at the moment the icon is gone again...

This was stable for me when I was using KDEMod, but problems seem to arise in our stock KDE. Can anyone confirm tray icon status in KDEmod?

Hapens here, too. Not sure about other causes, but here the problem is because program looks for a /usr/share/wicd/images/idle-signal.png icon, which the pacakge doesn't come with. This is either wicd or packaging problem.
