Hi there,

kdepim has some serious bugs, like these two:

http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=146545
http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=144960
Also imap does not work at all for some people...

Some other distros have changed to the enterprise branch of kdepim, which is more stable and has some additional (and very nice) features. We are using the branch since some time in KDEmod, and there have been no problems so far with it. Its now our default kdepim package.

I have attached a PKGBUILD for the latest tag of the enterprise branch, please test it, it should work without problems.

The kdepim developers are tagging weekly updates (only bugfixes) that can be fetched from here:

http://websvn.kde.org/tags/kdepim/

To update the package, just fetch the latest tag and tar it up. Everything else is covered in the PKGBUILD, just the build needs to be changed. You can also modify the PKGBUILD to fetch from svn directly, its all up to you :-) Also, most bugfixes are now groupware-related, so its not mandatory to update the package every week.

I hope that the enterprise branch will be incorporated into the normal kdepim with a possible 3.5.9 release, but currently its the only way to get the more stable stuff...

Greetings

Jan

PS: Upon the first start of kmail from the enterprise branch, some settings will be reverted like toolbars etc. Dont panic :) No critical data will be lost...

added myself to the list - since i use kdepim for email and such..

hmm... the enterprise branch has its future? or is it just a once-upcomming phenomenon? if it has its future, we can make a kdepim-enterprise pkg that replaces the kdepim for the people who want it to replace it for them (they can coexist in the repos)

has the enterprise branch any docs and or something more to grab? a url? or something?

first thx for the PKGBUILD file, it works verry good for me.

for the future of the kdepim-enterprise branch i found something:
fedora 8 use the enterprise branch (http://docs.fedoraproject.org/release-notes/f8/iso/en_US/sn-Desktop.html -> #10.2. KDE)
opensuse 10.3 use it (http://news.opensuse.org/2007/10/02/sneak-peeks-at-opensuse-103-a-plethora-of-improvements/ -> #KDEPIM Enterprise Branch)

i just miss some translations for the new features, but this is ok for me.

It seems the enterprise branch will be merged into KDE 3.5.9 which should arrive in february...

You can get more info about it here: http://websvn.kde.org/tags/kdepim/
Just go into the $LATEST_TAG/kdepim folder, there you find a file "Newslog.txt" with all recent changes...

Currently there are only german translations for the new features.
We have 2 patches for kde-i18n-de available here: http://kdemod.ath.cx/svn/branches/kde3/kde-i18n/

Here are our PKGBUILDs, we are updating it whenever a new tag arrives: http://kdemod.ath.cx/svn/branches/kde3/kdepim/
