hi
if you try to build a big package with konsole
makepkg does the job but at the point of compressing the package it freezes the system completely
only a reset helps.
here is an example for OO (ca. 75 MB) but i have the same problem with flightgear data (ca. 75MB) as well:

If this only happens when using Konsole, I would blame it (at first glance). I'll look into it, but no promises. It might not be fixable from my end. :(

I think it's a Konsole bug
for big packages i take xterm at the moment
