try the latest kernel from testing, but also update your binary modules if you use one.

options snd-hda-intel model=lenovo
perhaps you need to change your model there

Hello, thx for quick response. I tried testing kernel, but I still can not hear any sound. Play or Sox playing the file but you can not hear any sound. I think the problem is not in kernel but in something different. Frugalware kernel is not play in Arch Linux but play only in Frugalware linux.

I tried options snd-hda-intel model=lenovo and options snd-hda-intel model=laptop-eapd. In previous cases I tried also options snd-hda-intel model=3-stack and options snd-hda-intel position_fix=1 model=2-stack.

"try the latest kernel from testing, but also update your binary modules if you use one" ... What do You mean with that? Recompile alsa-driver? Yes, I tried it also. No success :'(.

P.S. Testing kernel has some call stack during the boot. Where can I catch it (save it) and post it to You?

I tried these steps (disable alsa and oss in kernel config, recompile kernel, compile alsa externaly): http://bugs.frugalware.hu/index.php?do=details&task_id=1505

But without success again. No sound on Lenovo 3000 N100 (snd_hda_intel).

cat /dev/random > /dev/dsp ... no sound

I tried kernel form Ubuntu Feisty, no soud also.

Do you know how can we solve this bug?

And I also tried disable internal modem in notebook's BIOS. It didn't help too. Have somebody working sound on Lenovo 3000 N100 or C100? (play, sox working normaly ... but you do not hear any sound)

May be there is a bad snd_pcm, snd_pcm_oss and libc6 in Arch Linux.

I tried fresh install of Arch Linux 0.8 Vodoo. Same behaviour and no sound also :'(. And Alsa 1.0.15 recompiled on Vodoo 0.8 did not help too. Something broken in Arch linux. Frugalware, Ubuntu, openSUSE have good sound.

perhaps stupid question, but did you unmute the sound?
Comment by Tobias Powalowski (tpowa) - Sunday, 25 November 2007, 16:34 GMT
according to your log file you set all volumes to 100% but you didn't unmute them.
also keep in mind to save alsa volumes on shutdown by using alsa daemon script in rc.conf

I tried install current Debian Lenny. It ships with 2.6.22 kernel and Alsa 1.0.14. Sound works good. I tried install Alsa 1.0.15 (driver, lib, utils) from source from official pages. And sound stopped working with Alsa 1.0.15. Than I made apt-get install linux-image-2.6.22-2-686 --reinstall and sound started working again with Alsa 1.0.14 from kernel.

So I made fresh reinstall of Arch Linux Don't Panic. I didn't install new Alsa 1.0.15 from source. Only changed options snd-hda-intel model=lenovo in modprobe.conf. And now I have sound in ArchLinux :-D with Alsa 1.0.14 from arch distro kernel. Thank You Tobias for support me. Yes I had unmuted cahnnels by pressing key "m" in alsamiexr.

I hope, that this problem will not appear with new Alsa in new kernel...

One aditional thing needed for working gnome mixer applet (No volume control GStreamer plugins and/or devices found.):
"usermod -aG audio myself" and then "reboot" is necessary
