DetailsDescription: I enabled testing and did the core rebuild. As a result xorg freezes. At first mouse cursor shows but after some seconds it freezes and keyboard stop responding, leaving only cold reboot as an option.
Additional info:i686, amd64 32 bits, nvidia gforce 7900 gs, nvidia-xconfig. * package version(s), core, extra, testing, compiz-fusion, community * config and/or log files etc. Did not look for any log files, downgraded all of testing to core. Steps to reproduce: Enable 'testing' in pacman.conf and run 'pacman -Syu' and type 'startx'. This behaviour affects both gnome 2.20 and xfce4 wm's. |
This task depends upon
else it cannot work, because of timer stats option in new kernel.
Should I have gotten the nvidia from unstable or what are you hinting at?
regards
linfan
pacman -Qi kernel26
pacman -Qi nvidia
kernel26-2.6.23.8-1 + nvidia 100.14.19-4
else you will get trouble.
Maybe there is more hand work to be done besides upgrading to testing. Maybe xorg-server needs to be reinstalled or uninstalled before upgrade. As it is now, I do not want to try it again, too much work to manually downgrade everything afterwards. Last time I downgraded I had to reboot from cd and reinstall kernel...
but i will follow this matter, if other ppl experience something similar.
Nowadays I work full time. I don't have the time to experiment so much.
Thanks for your kind support, though and good luck with your project.
