Description:
I have noticed that as soon you launch the xscreensaver-demo Gui cpu usage shoots to 100 % and on my laptop cpu speeds up to max. This wasn't happening before.

What screensaver is running on the small demo window? I have different CPU usage depending what screensaver is selected. The OpenGL ones have a relatively high CPU usage ~30-40%.

BTW, I just noticed the package is out-of-date. Maybe it will be fixed in 5.0.4 (once I update the package).

What video driver do you use? fglrx?

I am using intel driver. xf86-video-intel.

Yes i am still getting the problem, is it because of the preview it shows in the window?. The CPU usage does vary with different screen saver previews.

I can't reproduce it with an nvidia gpu and a pentium4 2.8Ghz cpu. voronoi works with 1-5% cpu usage.

This bug report is more than half a year old and it was probably due to low system specs.

Can this be closed?

I can't reproduce it with xf86-video-intel, the said screensaver and xsreensaver 5.05.
It only uses about 10% CPU on a pentium mobile 1,2Ghz.

I think it can be closed.
