The Query option does not include a search option such that included in Sync.

One can search for a string/word while using the sync option

pacman -Ss foobar

will return all the names and descriptions of packages in the repository which have the string "foobar" in their names or descriptions.

But why can't one search the installed packages for some string, this might be very usefull specially if you want to upgrade/remove a package which you don't know its exact name.
This task depends upon
