There is a bug in bibtex and achemso.bst from "texlive-latexextra 2007.1-2". When using a new version from svn, everything is OK.
Here is the bibtex error output:

Before I try to patch this, can you confirm that the problem is with file achemso.bst only?

I copied the new achemso.bst file to my folder containing the tex file and everything worked again. S I think the failure is only in this file. Other bibtex style, I tested, worked without problems.
