courier-mta overwrites /etc/conf.d/courier-mta which configures which courier modules are used. Adding this file to the NoUpgrade of pacman.conf does not help.

Weird, there is 'etc/conf.d/courier-mta' in backup array, so pacman should not replace it if it's modified.
And NoUpgrade must work.
Can you reproduce this?

We'd have to get a debug log to prove anything conclusive here.
