I am using the most recent version of ntp in Core -- Version
4.2.4p4-1.
My ntpd daemon uses authentication. After the recent OpenSLL update last night, my ntpd refuses to start at bootup. (Before the openssl update, ntpd worked fine). I now see this message in /var/log/everything.log Oct 15 09:59:36 myarch ntpd[4127]: ntpd: OpenSSL version mismatch. Built against 90805f, you have 908070B ntpd is pretty much useless until this bug gets fixed. It looks like the ntp package needs to be recompiled against the latest openssl package.. Rob P.S. To replicate this bug.. Make sure your ntp.conf file uses authentication e.g. crypto randfile /root/.rnd pw YourSecretPassword keysdir /etc/ntp keys /etc/ntp/ntpkey_MD5_myarch truestedkey 12 14 controlkey 12 requestkey 14 server time.nrc.ca iburst driftfile /var/lib/ntp/ntp.drift |
