Description:

Since Arch is updating FFMPEG and MPlayer, I think it would be a good time to update x264. There was a SO bump between the version in the repos and the last 20 or so subversion builds. The current version, 680, seems to be very stable. There are a other packages that will need to be updated, such as SWFDEC.

just a notice: x264-svn in Unstable was last updated long before x264 in Extra

$ pacman -Q x264
x264 20071112-1

Custom built using ABS, seems to be working fine for me. Haven't given it the roughest of testing, but I haven't seen any errors with it so far.

Just put 20071201-1 in testing. Please test!

I was just going to, but it's only available for i686. I'm going to assume the PKGBUILD is exactly the same as for the package that's in Extra right now (with only pkgver and md5sum changed) 'cause updating abs with testing enabled didn't give me anything for x264.

Building the new snapshot reveals that there's been yet another SO bump, it's now .57 which meant another rebuild of mplayer. A quick test shows nothing wrong, will test it more extendedly during the weekend when I have some time.

Unless someone has encountered problems, I will consider the 20071202 snapshot to be a good one and push this out of testing as soon as the issues of the dependent ffmpeg and mplayer packages have been resolved. Thank you for your patience while we sort those out!

It's been working just fine for me. Though I haven't tested encoding that much since my machine is a bit too slow for that.
