To achieve the misbehaviour, one should do the following:

*) ssh my.remote.arch.box
*) man man
*) search for some strings, scroll fast up and down
*) press ^Z

and not the last command in history. The situation is not reproducable every time and the frequency seemst to depend on which terminal emulation is used on the local machine (for konsole the probability is higher, for rxvt lower), but this is more heuristics than a rock-solid argument.

I know this kind of sometimes-reproducable bugs are nasty, but I hope that the developers can do something.
