On 'pacman -Syu' pacman 3.0.6 always re-downloads the databases (*.db.tar.gz), regardless whether the local copy is up to date or not.

Can you post your libarchive and libdownload versions? If you do not have the most recent versions of these libs installed, it is due to largefile support being enabled in pacman and not the libs.

This is, most likely, due to the fact that you are using HTTP and your mirror does not send the Last-Modified header.

Can you try with an ftp mirror (which always gives us times), and see if it is still in issue?

If it is, the best we can do is contact the mirror and ask them to send Last-Modified headers.

Actually it was due to outdated libarchive/lindownload versions. Shame on me. Sorry guys, it's not gonna happen again.
