Description:

My shutdown isn't working properly, when I'm connected to wireless networks using iwlwifi. I believe it is because of the wireless interface because two scenarios are present:

1.
1.1 - Connect to unprotected wireless network with NetworkManager (nm-applet)
1.2 - Under Gnome: System > Shutdown... > Shutdown > Shut Down
1.3 - Result: Shutdown dialog freezes, nm-applet disappears from tray.

2.
2.1 - Connect to WPA-Protected wireless network using NetworkManager (nm-applet)
2.2 - 1.2 - Under Gnome: System > Shutdown... > Shutdown > Shut Down
2.3 - rc.shutdown starts, but only works until "/sbin/poweroff". The system doesn't powerdown. I'm guessing because of "poweroff -i" option.

Temporary solution:

Allways disconnect from wireless networks before shutting down. Modules can be loaded, but wireless mustn't be connected.

I would suggest switching back to ipw3945 + ipw3945d for your network device. Your bug is only one out of many bugs I've seen with iwlwifi and the 3945.

But ipw3945 has another serious bug, that is more harmful to me... The latest aren't properly handled by NetworkManager, and I'm not quite experienced with wpa_supplicant/wireless_tools... Also some other tools don't do everything I need....

NetworkManager is like this perfect buggy thing....

The latest networkmanager package works a lot better with ipw3945. Usually I had 75% chance that my connection wouldn't come up with networkmanager and ipw3945, now I have a 95% success rate on my laptop (though my ZD1211 stick beats it at connection speed, range and 100% success rate)

I don't think we're talking about the same 0.6.5-3....... I'll give it another shot as soon as possible....
Try to configure a "broadcastless" network and connect to it...

BTW, great job on Gnome
