Description: Package request for mediawiki
[https://archlinux.org/packages/extra/any/mediawiki/]
Extra contains always the latest available release of mediawiki, currently 1.40.x, branch stable, that is fine. Aur contains mediawiki-lts, legacy LTS branch, currently 1.35.x. The issue is Mediawiki currently supports 3 branches: stable, LTS and legacy LTS. LTS branch is 1.39 branch. The problem is arch does not have LTS branch now, current 1.39.x version branch finished with 1.39.4 and once 1.40 was released, stable continues with that. Would it be possible to have LTS packages as well (1.39.5 and so on)? (Maintaining three package branches as Mediawiki does). Otherwise it is not possible to upgrade mediawiki regularly and stay on LTS branch. Second, mediawiki is not great in progressing compatibility with php. The best at the moment is 8.1 and 7.4. mediawiki package has a hard dependency on php package (currently 8.2) whereas in reality it is mostly php-legacy versions MW is run on. Would it be possible that mediawiki package is satisfied with any php (php, php-legacy) on the system and not strictly require the php (the latest version)? Thanks. |

Sorry, the 3 for 1 offer is sold out. But seriously, how many
versions would you like? We have enough trouble maintaining the
distro as is. Just stick it in the AUR and move on... If no
response from the PM this will be closed as "Won't implement".
