DetailsI'm running a setup where I use pulseaudio. I had issues until I installed pulseaudio-alsa. Typically, I couldn't both use the sound functionalities of musescore and play sound from Firefox, one or the other would block trying to do so. I think pulseaudio-alsa should at least be an optional if not required dependency of musescore.

Not a musescore issue, if you want to run alsa through pulse, you need that. It's an optional dep for pulseaudio, so already covered.
