DetailsDescription:
Kinfocenter currently has fwupd listed as a required dependency, i'm asking for the consideration to change fwupd to an optional dependency instead. I don't think a firmware manager tool and daemon should be required to be installed by default unless the user wishes to use that part of Kinfocenter. Currently by having fwupd as required dependency it pulls in the fwupd daemon, creates a fwupd service account then fwupd depends on passim (a local caching server) which creates a passim service account which then depends on avahi (which a user may also not want installed). Fwiw Debian & Fedora's Kinfocenter both do not require fwupd. (Fedora has it as recommended) Thanks for reading. |
