webp-pixbuf-loader would provide support for webp image format wallpapers. Having it added as at least an optional dependency would signal its importance for this functionality and avoid confusion and hours of wasted troubleshooting.

Technically already covered as existing optdep of a dependent pkg:

You could always add a note to the Wiki [1]?
