Description:

This is a regression starting with version 1.11.41.
I reported the issue upstream as Arch didn't changed a thing aside the sources tarball: https://github.com/vector-im/element-desktop/issues/1220 but they just closed it saying it's up to the maintainer and that it wasn't built in a supported way for them.

Additional info:
* package version(s) 1.11.41 and following
* https://github.com/vector-im/element-desktop/issues/1220
* Environment of the issue is Gnome; screenshot visible in upstream issue.

Steps to reproduce:
Just receive a notification

A whole multitude of variables about your system setup could easily cause an issue like that. I don't have a matrix setup to test it out. Could you please take this to the proper Arch support channels to see if anyone else can reproduce?

The trouble with this pkg is that the Arch maintainer is somewhat absent at the moment. @arojas has been doing a fine job keeping it up-to-date with pkgver bumps, but that is all. electron26 is not in the repos yet, so that is currently not an option.

On the upstream issues they seemed anyway to complain about a version of electron that was to recent…
I don't know what you're talking about by "the proper Arch support channels", but the issue is a clear regression as before the update, the icon was normal, either with an avatar or Element's icon.

I don't have much notifications and Element doesn't offer a "send a test notification" feature in settings so that I'd downgrade to 1.11.40 and sent a notification to confirm that it's correctly back at being visible.

??? See again the link they posted. They are targeting "26.2.0" when our version is 25. i.e. too old.

> "the proper Arch support channels"

Forum/IRC/Mailing Lists/Reddit/etc. You seemed to have missed my point. I'm asking for *your help* because of my inability to reproduce the problem and the fact our maintainer is missing in action. Does that make sense?

Edit: And just to be 100% clear, it is not "a clear regression" unless it can be reproduced by someone.

My bad, I'm so much used to the opposite that I didn't paid attention enough and assumed Arch had version too recent for them.

I downgraded the package waiting for notifications, and dropped a message on IRC.

So, after downgrading to 1.11.40, I actually still have a plain square as notification's icon, but now it's blue (same contact)…

Downgraded up to 1.11.36 which is the older I got locally, and same. I could go on older releases with archive.org repos archives, but up to where? What's sure is that it wasn't like that before, so now I have no idea what would cause this.

Ok, seems like it's not a regression in "element-desktop" after all. It must be in some other part of the software stack, but so far it apparently only happens on your system. Seeing as there is no evidence of an Arch packaging issue here, please move the discussion to the aforementioned support channels to see if anyone has any ideas to assist with troubleshooting.
