DetailsDescription: I am not sure if this is a bug or an observation, but here goes.
Attempting to compile the MUA Sylpheed (2.4.5 but version irrelevant I think), against installed gtkspell-2-0.11-2 and aspell-0.60.5, compilation fails with undefined references to aspell. eg : compose.o: In function `compose_set_spell_lang_menu':/myfiles/source/sylpheed-2.4.5/src/compose.c:5216:undefined reference to`new_aspell_config'. I reported to the Sylpheed mailing list and the response was that gtkspell-2.0.11-2.pc might omit -laspell. That reference is indeed omitted. I added it and Sylpheed now compiles. Additional info: * package version(s) * config and/or log files etc. Steps to reproduce: See above. Sylpheed is at http://sylpheed.sraoss.jp/en/ |

This is not a gtkspell bug, as gtkspell doesn't use aspell at all. Gtkspell uses enchant on archlinux, so if sylpheed uses aspell functions in their code, they have to check for that library itself.

uninstall aspell & configure will not detect it, thus not enabling buildtime dependecies.
