Description:

vpnc 0.5 loses connection after serveral seconds.
vpnc 0.4 (previous version) did not have this problem.

Probably cause : improved dead pear connection not working properly

Additional info:
* package version(s) : vpnc 0.5
* config and/or log files etc.


Steps to reproduce:

Connect with vpnc 0.5 and try pinging the remote host after serveral seconds.

Additional comments about closing:  bug seems more like a design change and can be solved by the switch --dpd-idle=0

Works for me without any problems. You should report this problem upstream.

Is there an option to disable dead-peer-detection? Would be a good way to verify the problem.

Found the solution to disable dead-peer-detection (thanks for the hint).
start vpnc with the option --dpd-idle-0 (or equivalent in the conf file, see vpnc --log-help for the options).
Call can be closed, the bug seems more like a design change of vpnc.
