Powerdevil failed to start with these messages:
"org.kde.powerdevil: KDE Power Management System init failed!"
"org.kde.powerdevil: org.kde.powerdevil.chargethresholdhelper.getthreshold failed "Charge thresholds are not supported by the kernel for this hardware""

The last message is also sown on the previous version 5.27.5, but however it starts successfully and I can user the KDE Widget to change brightness an see the battery status.
But after the upgrade to 5.27.6 the start failed completely and KDE does not allow to change any energy settings.

This error effects at least my Steam Deck. Another user reported the same bug for his MSI Modern 15 B12M.
On the KDE Bug Report page https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=471425 the user "qtm4ig" saied: "This was archlinux package bug".

So I can confirm, that after the upgrade from powerdevil 5.27.5 to 5.27.6, it failed to start on the Steam Deck too.
This task depends upon

Please always post *full* version numbers of the relevant packages, including the pkgrel.

Sorry, I didn't add the pkgrel number, because it affects every release since 5.27.6-1 including 5.27.6-3.

That's a very important piece of information because it shows (1) that this is an upstream issue and (2) that it is unrelated to the report you linked. So please report this upstream.

I see.
How do I do report this issue upstream (what does it even mean)?
Sorry, this is my first bug report and I am no developer...

Upstream is bugs.kde.org

Please post the output of running "/usr/lib/org_kde_powerdevil" in a terminal.

Ok thanks, I will post my experience in the KDE bugs forum.

The output is:
org.kde.powerdevil: KDE Power Management System init failed!
org.kde.powerdevil: org.kde.powerdevil.chargethresholdhelper.getthreshold failed "Charge thresholds are not supported by the kernel for this hardware"
