Description:

After some recent snafu that rendered my system unbootable for a day, I think it would be a good idea for there to be some sort of escape in the sysinit sequence in case some non-critical error is preventing boot from completing.

I had some problem with snd-pcm, and while I wouldn't have particularly minded no sound for a bit while I fixed it, I couldn't get past the walls of error messages the problem generated.

Therefore, I propose some sort of key combination that will tell sysinit something to the effect of "Skip this, go onto the next thing" in the event it gets stuck in a loop.

AFAIR it was requested before, and there is no easy way to implement it.

you can always use init=s on boot prompt and if you have issues while module loading use:
loadmodules=off on boot prompt
