Many GTK-based applications I use report: Gtk-WARNING **: Icon cache '/usr/share/icons/icon-theme.cache' is invalid I've tried deleting the cache file rm /usr/share/icons/icon-theme.cache I've tried refreshing the cache: gtk-update-icon-cache -q -t -f /usr/share/icons/ ... but nothing worked and I still receive that warning. GTK2 bug? Other people that I know have this same issue. |

Reason for closing: Not a bug
Additional comments about closing: The file shouldn't exist, and not a single package in current/extra create the icon cache in that directory.

Just delete the file, there's no reason for that file to exist, as these index files are only valid for icon themes. /usr/share/icons is the root of all icon themes, while an icon cache is created for a specific theme.
