Installed:
yay -Qs hplip
local/hplip 1:3.23.5-1
local/hplip-plugin 3.23.5-1

Additional info:
* package version(s) simple-scan 44.0-2
Using latest KDE as desktop.

Steps to reproduce:
install packages: yay -Sy hplip hplip-plugin simple-scan
try to scan - it fails and simple-scan requires plugin

At the same time XSane does scan without issues.

Works fine here i.e. cannot repro (I have a HP device that needs the plugin to scan).

There is not info provided to identify an Arch packaging bug. Please visit the proper support channels (Form/IRC/Mailing Lists/Reddit/etc) to see if anyone assist troubleshoot. If an Arch packaging bug is identified, please let us know the details.
