Description:

My laptop keyboard stopped working recently. I checked all possible logs and startup messages, dmesg. Nothing...
The keyboard works perfectly in Grub but it does not work either in console, plymouth (unable to enter disk encryption password) or even X11
USB keyboards do work.
The issue is definitely caused by the Kernel: I found a workaround by switching to the linux-lts kernel, and keyboard is working normally.

Steps to reproduce:

Dell Inspiron 5420
Start boot sequence from Grub

Please read the bug guidelines [1] about submitting a good report. You haven't even included your kernel version! General advice to debug kernel regressions [2].

Hi, indeed I apologize for this. Seems I can't modify the initial report.
Version concerned by this strange issue is core/linux 6.2.12.arch1-1

Linux version 6.2.11-arch1-1 (linux@archlinux) (gcc (GCC) 12.2.1 20230201, GNU ld (GNU Binutils) 2.40) #1 SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC Thu, 13 Apr 2023 16:59:24 +0000

I'm not 100% sure the core/linux package was faulty. Seems that installation of core/linux-lts package fixed the keyboard issue somehow, even for core/linux package which seems fine now.
This does not make any sense to me. So I will request closure for this task as I can not do some further investigations.

Was possibly an issue with initramfs creation.
