I have an Intel i5-4590 processor and after the last update the problems started, after reboot the desktop did not want to load, only adding to /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-intel.conf the line
Option "DRI" "2"
loaded the desktop. But only with compiz.
I'm using Xfce4 and when I start sessions with xfwm4 the desktop doesn't load, only compiz.

Before the update from 2 months ago my /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-intel.conf looked like this
Section "Device"
"Intel Graphics" identifier
driver "intel"
EndSection
And everything was fine
And now I do
Section "Device"
"Intel Graphics" identifier
driver "intel"
Option "DRI" "2" # DRI3 is now default
EndSection
But only compiz starts and xfwm4 does not.
This task depends upon

After removing the xf86-video-intel package and /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-intel.conf everything was back to normal.

Are you aware Wiki says "xf86-video-intel" is not recommended [1]? This also seems to be the general advice given in the support forum (which is where you should have reported this first).
