Description:
In "preferences" -> "Libraries" the ffmpeg library only gets recognized if ffmpeg4.4 is installed. I uninstalled ffmpeg4.4 and then launched audacity. This leads to a popup window with the following message: FFmpeg was configured in Preferences and successfully loaded before, but this time Audacity failed to load it at startup. You may want to go back to Preferences > Libraries and re-configure it. Trying to reconfigure it by providing the path /usr/lib/libavformat.so, audacity doesn't recognize it. Reinstalling ffmpeg4.4 resolves this entirely. Additional info: * package version(s) audacity 1:3.2.5-1 ffmpeg 2:6.0-3 ffmpeg4.4 4.4.3-1 * config and/or log files etc. * link to upstream bug report, if any Steps to reproduce: Launch audacity on a system that doesn't have ffmpeg4.4 installed and which has the optional dependency ffmpeg installed. Go to Preferences > Libraries and try to configure ffmpeg. It won't work. It will be solved automatically if ffmpeg4.4 is installed. |

Just ran into this issue myself. To add some context, this broke
because of the update to ffmpeg 6.0, and there is an open bug
upstream about the lack of ffmpeg 6.0 support:
https://github.com/audacity/audacity/issues/4381. Installing ffmpeg4.4 also fixed it for me.
