Description:

I get no HDMI audio on my Intel NUC (NUC7i3BNH) on linux-lts-6.14-1. The same applies to non-lts linux packages.

The last known good version is linux-lts-5.15.94-1. Downgrading to this package and HDMI audio works again.

Sometimes in a blue moon, after a reboot, I do get HDMI audio on linux-lts-6+, but that's really seldom (less than every 10th boot). With versions <6 I get it consistently. I don't have a successful initialization on 6+ versions in my logs at the moment (they got overwritten as I tried to get 6 series working). But on the 5.15 I get this in the Kernel logs (and HDMI audio works):

Mar 04 13:26:33 archnuke alsactl[347]: Found hardware: "HDA-Intel" "Realtek ALC283" "HDA:10ec0283,80862068,00100003 HDA:8086280b,80860101,00100000" "0x8086" "0x2068"
Mar 04 13:26:33 archnuke alsactl[347]: Hardware is initialized using a generic method

but on 6+ these lines are missing.

Additional info:

- linux-lts-6.14-1, linux (non-lts, any recent package)
- I'll be happy to provide logs, which are relevant, but not sure which are (complete boot journals?)

Relevant devices in lspci:

00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation HD Graphics 620 (rev 02)
00:1f.3 Audio device: Intel Corporation Sunrise Point-LP HD Audio (rev 21)

Steps to reproduce:

Boot on a linux-lts-6 -series kernel on affected hardware. Observer there is no HDMI audio.
Boot on a linux-lts-5 -series kernel on the same hardware. Observer HDMI audio is now working.

One few more comments:

Even when audio is working, I need to manually enable the HDMI output by running `xrandr --output DP1 --set audio on`, though I'm fairly sure this should not be needed (and indeed DP1 is the port where the audio is connected). I believe the HDMI audio should enable by itself. But when the audio fails, the command does not work - although ALSA does think it has enabled the audio.

For the record, I'm running KODI trough a display manager (SDDM).

I have checked my mixer settings. I can also see trough my amplifier that there is no output stream (it will display a mixing rate and bit rate, even if the output stream is silent).
