DetailsDescription:
Adding "options snd-hda-intel model=ref" to /etc/modprobe.conf does not make any difference when snd-hda-intel module is loaded. Also tried all of the possible values for the "model" option (6stack, 3stack, full, etc.) without any effect. According to many users of other Linux distributions (e.g. Ubuntu and Fedora), this change in /etc/modprobe.conf is supposed to make some additional volume controls to be shown in alsamixer (LFE, for instance) but in ArchLinux, it does not. This is supposed to let me control the subwoofer volume on a Dell XPS M1710 but it is impossible to get that LFE control (or any other than the common ones) to be shown. Additional info: * Package versions: - kernel26 2.6.22.1-4 - local/alsa-lib 1.0.14-4 - local/alsa-utils 1.0.14-1 * lspci shows this sound-card-related output:
00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) High Definition Audio Controller (rev 01)
* "uname -a" prints:
Linux hades 2.6.22-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Thu Aug 2 18:27:37 CEST 2007 i686 Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU T7200 @ 2.00GHz GenuineIntel GNU/Linux
* "lsmod | grep snd" prints: snd_hda_intel 269980 2 snd_seq_oss 29312 0 snd_seq_midi_event 6528 1 snd_seq_oss snd_seq 46672 4 snd_seq_oss,snd_seq_midi_event snd_seq_device 6924 2 snd_seq_oss,snd_seq snd_pcm_oss 38560 0 snd_mixer_oss 14592 1 snd_pcm_oss snd_pcm 69124 2 snd_hda_intel,snd_pcm_oss snd_timer 19204 2 snd_seq,snd_pcm snd 44644 12 snd_hda_intel,snd_seq_oss,snd_seq,snd_seq_device,snd_pcm_oss,snd_mixer_oss,snd_pcm,snd_timer soundcore 6496 1 snd snd_page_alloc 7816 2 snd_hda_intel,snd_pcm * /etc/modprobe.d/sound : alias snd-card-0 snd-hda-intel alias sound-slot-0 snd-hda-intel * /etc/modprobe.conf : options snd-hda-intel model=ref Steps to reproduce: Add the line "options snd-hda-intel model=ref" to /etc/modprobe.conf". Note that no additional volume controls are shown after rebooting. |

I just found that adding the option "index=0" solves the problem. I think this bug can be closed now.
