I tried to register at AUR. But I'm asked about a bot/captcha question I can not answer without a running Arch installation.

Sometimes there are upstream maintainers trying to get in contact with a Distro but now willing to invest time in installing Arch.

Please use a more "friendly" solution for the captach.

Would just running the LiveCD work?

Yes, there have been numerous complaints about this over time, and also the BBS and Wiki which have similar req's. The LiveCD is a very easy solution. Please take any further discussion "upstream" [1].
