According to our package guidelines[1], all external shared libraries should be listed in provides=(). In order to meet this guideline, please add the following line to binutils:

provides=(libctf-nobfd.so libctf.so libgprofng.so libsframe.so)

Hmm, not sure that spamming the bug tracker with 30 odd tickets is the right way to go here. A TODO list might be better suited. Do we have a consensus on this topic yet? The jury seems out amongst the Arch devs who have passed comments in recent days. No response so far to [1]. I'm reluctant to assign these tickets until we have a firm direction.

Yes, it was a bad idea to open these kind of bugs, sorry for that. I'll propose developers to deprecate adding these provides=() manually, and I'll nagging them to implement automated addition of these to provides=() ASAP, since it's easy to implement, and we can backport it from the next pacman version in a compatible way.

So feel free to close any reports about missing library provides from now.

Ok thanks. So IIUC, I can close all these "mechanical" tickets that you opened? On the other hand, anyone who has specifically requested for a particular reason, I will continue to assign as per usual. Please let me know if I have got anything wrong here.
