DetailsAccording to our package guidelines[1], all external shared libraries should be listed in provides=(). In order to meet this guideline, please add the following line to glibc:

Kind of a waste of time given that whole system is removed in the next pacman release.

What's the point in adding libc.so to provides?

Well, even though almost every package needs libc.so, it's technically an external shared library. The benefit would be that a package could list all direct library dependencies in depends=() and rely entirely on sonames instead of package names.
