DetailsDescription:
A little over a year ago the mpv package dropped the libcaca dependency, as documented in this task: https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/70962 This was due to several at the time unaddressed security issues in libcaca, more details can be seen in the original task. About a month later these issues were addressed in the libcaca upstream repo with the v0.99.beta20 release: https://github.com/cacalabs/libcaca/releases/tag/v0.99.beta20 This version of libcaca is the current version also in the Arch repositories. It is also required by several other packages likely to be on a system using mpv, so it does seem unlikely to add back any higher dependency burden to the mpv package: https://archlinux.org/packages/extra/x86_64/libcaca/ Therefore, I request that the libcaca dependency please be added back to the mpv PKGBUILD (i.e. reverse what was done in task 70962). |
