Description:
Users with a pure ALSA setup are forced to install pipewire to use mpv, but pipewire is not a hard dependency.

It can't be optional. Build time optional and runtime optional are two different things. If you build it with pipewire, it's a hard dep.

I may sound a bit exaggerated, but I have the impression that pipewire is becoming the new systemd of Linux. First mpd, now even mpv requires it.

Is it really necessary build mpv with pipewire?

Unless upstream somehow allows pipewire support to be built but optionally loaded then it appears to be all or nothing.

I think there are more installations that use a sound server than those that do not.
So we will keep that feature enabled. Feel free to rebuild the package without pipewire...
