Adding on the fact that there are more issues with the new X11 version and some discussion is really building up

Another issue with Steam game CSGO, see https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=2074188. Downgrading to libx11 to 1.8.2-2 fixes at least that specific issue.

Please try 1.8.3-2 from testing repo.

> CSGO frozen

This seems to be another unrelated issue introduced in 1.8.3.
Tried to fix this with: https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/xorg/lib/libx11/-/merge_requests/177

Please try 1.8.3-3.
Comment by Jimmy Johnsson (khhs) - Sunday, 18 December 2022, 20:35 GMT
Godot appears to be fixed in 1.8.3-3, holding off a closure request until I know it is fully resolved
Comment by David V (davidovitch) - Sunday, 18 December 2022, 20:43 GMT
Cool, 1.8.3-3 also fixes the CSGO issue.
Comment by Daria (farfalleflickan) - Sunday, 01 January 2023, 22:15 GMT
Not sure how to debug the issue, but it seems to be broken again in csgo despite 1.8.3-3, downgrading to 1.8.2-2 fixes it again...

emacs affected too: debian "fixed" the bug by reverting commit d6d6cba90215d323567fef13d6565756c9956f60, see https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=1026809
Comment by Christopher Snowhill (kode54) - Thursday, 05 January 2023, 03:56 GMT
Upstream Xlib merged the revert: https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/xorg/lib/libx11/-/merge_requests/180 - this replaces 177

These should probably also be applied to the multilib variant as well?

Please check 1.8.3-4 in testing repo.

Cannot say for godot or vkdoom, but it fixes emacs at least :)

Godot still regularly crashes, even in revision 5

Relevant godot bug entry:
https://github.com/godotengine/godot/issues/69352

I'm too getting random godot4 crashes with -5 package. -4 was completely broken (startup hang on crash). -3 was similar to -5
Comment by Flori (bitfl0wer) - Monday, 09 January 2023, 13:43 GMT
Team Fortress 2 also seems to be affected by this. can confirm that this hasn't been fixed by -5
EDIT: lib32-libx11 is also affected.
Comment by Andreas Radke (AndyRTR) - Thursday, 19 January 2023, 11:50 GMT
Please try libx11-1.8.3-6 - the 176.diff is now the an updated version that was committed into upstream git master.
