Description:
I think this is a packing issue because I can't reproduce with portable and AppImage versions of shotcut available on shutcut.org
Apparently it's a KDE Plasma specific issue, I can't reproduce on another machine running Arch + Gnome.

Additional info:
* package version(s): shotcut 22.11.25-1
* config and/or log files etc.
* link to upstream bug report, if any: https://github.com/mltframework/shotcut/issues/1386

Steps to reproduce:
1. open Shotcut
2. click on 'Settings' menu, hover over 'Theme' and choose 'System'
3. restart Shotcut

The areas highlighted in red in the attached screenshot are where icons are missing.

Can repro in a fresh VM running Plasma.

Are you able to reproduce this on more than one machine running Plasma?

Happy to consider patches if anybody confirms this is a packaging issue and can point out exactly what's the matter, but I'm not a Plasma user myself and that makes this very cumbersome to test. My initial attempt at least looks fine, so there is more to this than just firing it up with stock settings.

I do not think it's an install issue. The bug was confirmed by Toolybird in the first comment.

It still repro's for me in a plasma VM. Possibly something related to oxygen icons after delving into the code, but I couldn't figure it out. A plasma guru like @arojas would surely have some insight...@arojas, could you please assist?

This is not a packaging problem. The fact that it is not reproducible in the appimage does not make it a packaging issue, the appimage contains stripped down versions of Qt and will not be affected by issues caused by interaction with other Qt plugins. If upstream doesn't care about issues that are not reproducible in the appimage, then that's too bad, but it doesn't make it our bug.

FWIW the flatpak version is also affected. You may use that argument to try to convince upstream to care about this.

I can reproduce with flatpak version on Arch, but I can't on another distribution called neon unstable.
I have added a new comment in the upstream bug report.

It depends on your plasma style settings. Set the icons display to "Text besides icon"

Breeze style is already set to "Text besides icon". Installed and tested flatpak version on neon unstable again and the bug occurs this time.

The next version apparently removes the setting thus avoiding this issue [1].
