1. This changes an awful lot and I'm concerned about its effect on an older snapshot of the codebase.
2. This has existed for a few years without much traction/+1s in the bug reports
3. This is going to be included in 1.8 which already has an RC2 release (a quick glance suggests they always go to RC3 before release): This suggests that a new release will be cut within the next month.
Based on these three factors, I would not backport this patch. Thoughts, Maxim?
