The pkg was re-worked in line with new ruby packaging guidelines [1]. What makes you think it's unusable? Your report is lacking the required detail. I'm not familiar with ruby but I just tried the usage examples here [2] and they seem to work fine. Also:

$ tar -tf ruby-digest-3.1.0-6-x86_64.pkg.tar.zst | grep loader
usr/lib/ruby/3.0.0/x86_64-linux/digest/loader.rb
usr/lib/ruby/3.0.0/x86_64-linux/digest/sha2/loader.rb

Experimenting further, this seems to be an issue in particular with how bootsnap finds required modules. It looks for "loader.rb", and crashes when it can't find it with this error: "LoadError: cannot load such file -- /usr/lib/ruby/3.0.0/digest/loader.rb"
Looking at the package guidelines, unsure why it's gone in the latest version. Will go raise this with bootsnap in the meantime.
