I had the same problem and when I turned the acpi off everything working correctly.

I tried acpi=off but it didn't help, I still get timeout when trying a newer version (could that have something to do with that I have a dualcore cpu).
Comment by Mårten Olsson (maos) - Tuesday, 25 September 2007, 20:51 GMT
Don't know if it matter but had to add "irqpoll" as well when adding "acpi=off" or else the computer crashed

Which architecture? maybe my temporary solution working only on i686?

Maybe should have mentioned that but I am slightly confused so I forgot: I have a Amd 64 x2, a Asus a8n-e mb (NVIDIA nForce 4 Ultra chipset) running Arch64

I've got the same problem on onboard Realtek 8168 Gigabit Ethernet. eth0 times out. Module r8169 loaded.

Using D-Link System Inc.|DFE 530 TX+ Fast Ethernet Adapter (module: 8139too) here.
Worked up to and including dhcpcd 3.0.19, with any newer version it just times out.

i think this is relevant... I'm working with an Intel 3945 abg (iwl3945)....

If I just iwconfig AFTER ifconfig up, it works perfectly... That's just it.....

iwconfig wlan0 essid whatever
ifconfig wlan0 up
dhcpcd wlan0

If I use netcfg, not matter how many times I try, it will allways fail... At least seems so.... Also, by hand, if I iwconfig before ifconfig'ing up, it's useless.....

Could you attach or email me (roy@marples.name) a wireshark trace or raw tcpdump of the DHCP transaction please?
As you keep getting the xid 0x16700000 which just looks very very wrong. Also, state CPU type and glibc version.

This should be fixed in dhcpcd-4.0.0-alpha3
Comment by Mårten Olsson (maos) - Monday, 28 April 2008, 20:59 GMT
Tested by creating a package with version 4.0.0-alpha3 and it works as expected.
