Currently, all packages that require a pulse server explicitly depend on the `pulseaudio` package, thus making pacman just use it as a default implementation without asking. However, this could break for e.g. people selecting `wireplumber` and wanting to use `pipewire-pulse` as their pulse server. I think making all pulse server implementations provide `PULSE-SERVER` or so and letting other packages depend on this virtual package could fix this. Moreover, it allows users to select the desired one first time during the installation, avoiding unnecessary switching afterwards.
This task depends upon

Not sure a "virtual provides" here is worth it. Most folks decide beforehand which sound server they want to run and just install the correct pkgs, and then set up the rest of the system. For example; the archinstall script asks this as a pre-install question. Simply relying on the dependency system to figure out preferences like this is a bad strategy IMHO. In other words; do your research by reading the wiki, install your preferred components, profit.

But having said all that, I can see it might be kinda useful. If there is no reaction from the PM's, we have our answer.

Yes, we want to change the dependencies so that pacman will ask you, but pipewire-pulse is preferred.

I just did a fresh install and ran into this when I installed plasma-meta. The jack dependency asked me to choose between jack2 and pipewire-jack but the pulseaudio dependency gave me no choice and I had to manually replace it with pipewire-pulse. I think it should be changed for consistency, if nothing else.
