DetailsLame (lame-3.95-1.pkg.tar.gz) fails with segfault when encoding some wav files with --vbr-new switch. 100% reproducible. The build from source lame works perfectly in the same situations (build with flags: -march=i686 -O2 -pipe".

Can you give me the exact commandline you typed? It is working perfectly fine here
My test: lame --vbr-new sample.wav
In ~80% of cases this works fine, but there are some wav files causing the segfault - always reproducible at the same (for the given file) point.
