Details

Description:
The ThinkPad red track and touchpad stop working when the laptop(T440) waken from suspension. There are no captured events from libinput, where keyboard events are reported correctly. After two modprobes which remove and reactive psmouse kernel module, the problem resolves.

1. systemctl -i suspend or simply close the laptop's lid
2. wake up the system by pressing a key or opening the lid

Seems to be a common problem as quite a few references found online [1][2][3], some with workarounds. You could try fiddling with the kernel param psmouse.synaptics_intertouch=1 (or 0)

If this worked previously and now it doesn't, it's a kernel regression and you know what to do. (If you don't, then just ask).
